8.4 Use of Payment Service Providers (Payment Services)

- Apple Pay

If you choose the Apple Pay payment method provided by Apple Distribution International (Apple), Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland, payment processing is carried out via the Apple Pay function on your device running iOS, watchOS, or macOS by charging a payment card stored in Apple Pay. Apple Pay uses security features integrated into your device’s hardware and software to protect your transactions. To authorize a payment, you must enter a code previously defined by you and verify your identity using your device’s Face ID or Touch ID function.

For the purpose of processing the payment, the information you provide during the ordering process, together with information about your order, is transmitted to Apple in encrypted form. Apple then encrypts this data again using a developer-specific key before transmitting it to the payment service provider of the payment card stored in Apple Pay. This encryption ensures that only the website through which the purchase was made can access the payment data. Once the payment has been completed, Apple sends your device account number and a transaction-specific dynamic security code to the originating website to confirm the success of the payment.

Where personal data is processed during the transmissions described above, such processing is carried out solely for the purpose of payment processing in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR.

Apple retains anonymized transaction data, including the approximate purchase amount, the approximate date and time, and whether the transaction was completed successfully. This anonymization completely removes any personal reference. Apple uses this anonymized data to improve Apple Pay and other Apple products and services.

If you use Apple Pay on an iPhone or Apple Watch to complete a purchase made through Safari on a Mac, the Mac and the authorization device communicate through an encrypted channel via Apple servers. Apple does not process or store any of this information in a format that can identify you personally. You can disable the use of Apple Pay on your Mac in your iPhone settings. Go to “Wallet & Apple Pay” and disable “Allow Payments on Mac.”

Further information on data protection with Apple Pay can be found at the following website: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203027

- Google Pay

If you choose the Google Pay payment method provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”), payment processing is carried out via the Google Pay application on your NFC-enabled mobile device running at least Android 4.4 (“KitKat”) by charging a payment card or verified payment method (e.g. PayPal) stored in Google Pay. To authorize a payment via Google Pay exceeding €25.00, you must first unlock your mobile device using your configured verification method (such as facial recognition, password, fingerprint, or pattern).

For the purpose of processing the payment, the information you provide during the ordering process together with information about your order is transmitted to Google. Google then transmits your payment information stored in Google Pay to the originating website in the form of a unique transaction number used to verify that payment has been completed. This transaction number contains no information about the actual payment details of your payment methods stored in Google Pay but is created and transmitted as a unique numerical token. For all transactions processed through Google Pay, Google acts solely as an intermediary for the payment process. The transaction itself is carried out exclusively between the user and the originating website by charging the payment method stored in Google Pay.

Where personal data is processed during the transmissions described above, such processing is carried out solely for the purpose of payment processing in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR.

Google reserves the right to collect, store, and evaluate certain transaction-specific information for every transaction made through Google Pay. This includes the date, time, and amount of the transaction, merchant location and description, a description of the purchased goods or services provided by the merchant, photos attached to the transaction, the name and email address of the seller and buyer or sender and recipient, the payment method used, your description of the reason for the transaction and, where applicable, any offer associated with the transaction.

According to Google, this processing is carried out exclusively in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR based on its legitimate interest in proper accounting, verification of transaction data, and the optimization and maintenance of the Google Pay service.

Google also reserves the right to combine the processed transaction data with other information collected and stored by Google through your use of other Google services.

The Google Pay Terms of Service can be found here: https://payments.google.com/payments/apis-secure/u/0/get_legal_document?ldo=0&ldt=googlepaytos&ldl=en

- PayPal Checkout

This website uses PayPal Checkout, an online payment system provided by PayPal consisting of PayPal’s own payment methods and local payment methods from third-party providers.

When paying via PayPal, credit card via PayPal, direct debit via PayPal or, where offered, “Pay Later” via PayPal, your payment data is transmitted as part of the payment process to PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg (“PayPal”). The transfer takes place in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR and only to the extent necessary for payment processing.

PayPal reserves the right to carry out a credit check for the payment methods credit card via PayPal, direct debit via PayPal or, where offered, “Pay Later” via PayPal. For this purpose, your payment data may be transmitted to credit agencies in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR based on PayPal’s legitimate interest in determining your creditworthiness. PayPal uses the result of the credit check regarding the statistical probability of payment default to decide whether to provide the selected payment method. The credit report may contain probability values (so-called score values). Where score values are included in the credit report, they are based on scientifically recognized mathematical-statistical procedures. Address data is included in the calculation of the score values, among other factors. You may object to this processing of your data at any time by contacting PayPal. However, PayPal may still be entitled to process your personal data if this is necessary for the contractual processing of payments.

9) Web Analytics Services

Google Analytics 4

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”), which enables us to analyze your use of our website.

By default, Google Analytics 4 places cookies when you visit the website. These are small text files stored on your device that collect certain information. This information also includes your IP address, although Google truncates the last digits of the IP address to prevent it from being directly linked to an individual.

The information is transferred to Google servers and processed there. Transfers to Google LLC, based in the United States, are also possible.

Google uses the information collected on our behalf to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity for us, and provide other services related to website and internet usage. The shortened IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data. The data collected through Google Analytics 4 is retained for two months and then deleted.

All of the processing described above, particularly the placement of cookies on your device, only takes place if you have given us your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR.

Without your consent, Google Analytics 4 will not be used during your visit to our website. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please deactivate this service using the cookie consent tool provided on our website.

We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement with Google to ensure the protection of our website visitors’ data and to prevent unauthorized disclosure to third parties.

Further legal information on Google Analytics 4 can be found at: https://business.safety.google/intl/en/privacy/, https://policies.google.com/privacy, https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Demographic Data

Google Analytics 4 uses the special “Demographic Data” feature to generate statistics about the age, gender, and interests of website visitors. This is done by analyzing advertising data and information obtained from third parties. This allows target audiences for marketing activities to be identified. However, the collected data cannot be assigned to any specific individual and is deleted after being stored for two months.

Google Signals

As an extension of Google Analytics 4, this website may use Google Signals to generate cross-device reports. If you have enabled personalized advertising and linked your devices to your Google Account, Google may, subject to your consent for Google Analytics under Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, analyze your usage behavior across devices and create database models, including models for cross-device conversions. We do not receive any personal data from Google, only aggregated statistics.

If you wish to disable cross-device analysis, you can turn off the “Personalized Ads” feature in your Google Account settings. Please follow the instructions provided on this page: https://support.google.com/My-Ad-Center-Help/answer/12155764

Further information about Google Signals can be found at: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7532985

User IDs

As an extension of Google Analytics 4, this website may use the “User IDs” feature. If you have consented to the use of Google Analytics 4 in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, created an account on this website, and logged into that account on multiple devices, your activities, including conversions, may be analyzed across devices.

10) Retargeting / Remarketing and Conversion Tracking

10.1 Meta Pixel with Advanced Matching

Within our online offering, we use the “Meta Pixel” service in Advanced Matching mode, provided by the following provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Meta”).

When a user clicks on an advertisement placed by us on Facebook or Instagram, the URL of our linked page is extended with a parameter using Meta Pixel. After the user is redirected, this URL parameter is stored in the user’s browser via a cookie that is set by our linked website. In addition, this cookie collects specific customer data, such as the email address, which we collect on our website linked to the Facebook or Instagram advertisement during activities such as purchases, account registrations, or sign-ups (Advanced Matching). The cookie is then read and enables the transmission of this data, including the specific customer information, to Meta.

We use Meta Pixel with Advanced Matching to make our advertisements (“Ads”) on Facebook and/or Instagram more effective and to ensure that they are relevant to users’ interests or match certain characteristics (for example, interests in specific topics or products determined from the websites visited), which we transmit to Meta (so-called Custom Audiences).

In addition, we analyze the effectiveness of our advertisements by tracking whether users are redirected to our website after clicking on an advertisement (conversion tracking). Compared to the standard version of Meta Pixel, the Advanced Matching feature helps us better measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns by capturing a greater number of attributed conversions.

All transmitted data is stored and processed by Meta, allowing it to be linked to the respective user profile. Meta may use this data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with the Meta Data Policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/

The data may also enable Meta and its partners to display advertisements on and outside Facebook.

All of the processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies to read information on the device used, will only take place if you have given us your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by disabling this service via the Cookie Consent Tool provided on our website.

We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with the provider to ensure the protection of our website visitors’ data and to prevent unauthorized disclosure to third parties.

The information generated by Meta is generally transferred to a Meta server and stored there. In this context, data may also be transferred to servers of Meta Platforms Inc. in the United States.

For data transfers to the United States, the provider has certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision issued by the European Commission.

10.2 Google Ads Remarketing

This website uses the retargeting technology of the following provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland.

For this purpose, Google places a cookie in your device’s browser. Using a pseudonymous cookie ID and based on the pages you visit, this cookie automatically enables interest-based advertising. Further data processing only takes place if you have agreed with Google that your web and app browsing history may be linked to your Google Account and that information from your Google Account may be used to personalize the advertisements you see on the web. In this case, if you are logged into Google while visiting our website, Google uses your data together with Google Analytics data to create and define audience lists for cross-device remarketing. For this purpose, your personal data is temporarily linked with Google Analytics data to build target audiences. As part of the use of Google Ads Remarketing, personal data may also be transferred to servers of Google LLC in the United States.

All of the processing described above, in particular the placement of cookies to read information stored on your device, will only take place if you have given us your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. Without your consent, retargeting technology will not be used during your visit to our website.

You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please disable this service using the Cookie Consent Tool provided on our website.

For data transfers to the United States, the provider has certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision issued by the European Commission.

10.3 Pinterest Retargeting Pixel

This website uses retargeting technology provided by Pinterest Europe Ltd., Palmerston House, 2nd Floor, Fenian Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.

This technology enables us to target visitors to our website with personalized, interest-based advertising if they have already shown an interest in our shop or products. The advertisements displayed are based on a cookie-based analysis of previous and current user behavior.

When retargeting technology is used, a cookie is stored on your computer or mobile device to collect pseudonymized data about your interests, allowing advertisements to be individually tailored to the stored information. These cookies are small text files stored on your computer or mobile device. As a result, you are shown advertisements that are highly likely to match your product and information interests.

All of the processing described above, in particular the placement of cookies to read information stored on your device, will only take place if you have given us your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. Without your consent, retargeting technology will not be used during your visit to our website.

10.4 Google Ads Conversion Tracking

This website uses the online advertising program Google Ads and, as part of Google Ads, Conversion Tracking provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”). We use Google Ads to draw attention to our attractive offers on external websites by means of advertisements (Google Ads). Based on the data from advertising campaigns, we can determine how successful individual advertising measures are. Our objective is to show you advertising that is relevant to your interests, make our website more attractive to you, and ensure a fair calculation of advertising costs.

The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on a Google Ads advertisement. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. These cookies generally expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of this website before the cookie expires, Google and we can recognize that the user clicked on the advertisement and was redirected to that page. Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be tracked across the websites of different Google Ads customers. The information collected through the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for Google Ads customers who have opted to use conversion tracking. Customers receive the total number of users who clicked on their advertisement and were redirected to a page tagged for conversion tracking. However, they do not receive any information that could personally identify users. As part of the use of Google Ads, personal data may also be transferred to servers of Google LLC in the United States.

Details regarding the processing initiated by Google Ads Conversion Tracking and Google’s handling of website data can be found here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

All of the processing described above, in particular the placement of cookies to read information stored on your device, will only take place if you have given us your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by disabling this service using the Cookie Consent Tool provided on our website.

You may also permanently object to the setting of cookies by Google Ads Conversion Tracking by downloading and installing the Google browser plug-in available at the following link: https://support.google.com/My-Ad-Center-Help/answer/12155656
