TramesFACTICES explores fabric as a graphic surface shaped by thread, line and optical illusion.
THE STUDIO
Founded by Belgian textile designer Amandine Fabry, TramesFACTICES examines how thread, line and structure shape a textile. The stripe is central to Fabry’s work. Rather than being applied to the surface, it is developed through the act of weaving itself.
THE PROCESS
The graphic compositions are woven directly into the cloth using jacquard. Though the textile itself is flat, its lines suggest striped fabric arranged in folds, creating a trompe-l’œil between surface and depth. The front and reverse reveal different colour compositions and motifs, giving each throw two distinct views.
DESIGN & PRODUCTION
Designed in Liège, the throws are jacquard-woven in small series by specialist mills in Belgium and France. Depending on the design, materials include European wool, mohair and organic cotton. Material and construction are treated as part of the graphic idea, not simply as its support.
